QUARRY TILE: Glazed or unglazed tile made by the extrusion process from natural clay or shale, usually having six square inches or more of facial area.
QUARTER-- A unit of loom width, 9 inches, or1/4 yard. The European standard of measurement was, at one time, the ell, the equivalent of 27 inches; and looms were formerly built in this width. The United States standard of measure, being the yard, gave rise to the term "three-quarter" in referring to 27-inch wide carpet strips. Yard wide carpet is, therefore, known as 4/4, 9 feet wide as 12/4, etc.

QUARTER ROUND -- A length of wood used for finishing molding and joints between walls and floors, four of which, if placed together along their straight edges, would make a completely circular (i.e., cylindrical) "pole."
Quarter sawn
-- the annual growth rings from an angle of 45 degrees to 90 degrees with the surface of the piece. In In quarter sawn strips the medullary rays or pith rays in ring porous woods are exposed as flex which are reflected and produce a distinctive grain pattern.

Quirk Miter --An end condition cast with a forty-five degree angle and an edge put on the point at a ninety-degree angle to eliminate feather edging.
Quoin --Block used to make up a corner of a wall.
